High fat breakfast may be healthiest start to the day

I’ve been saying for a while now that my clients have an easier time losing weight if they eat a fatty breakfast.  However, people find it hard to believe me.

But the weight (ha,ha) of scientific evidence may be beginning to support this. A study reported a couple of days ago in the International Journal of Obesity suggests that fat for breakfast is a good thing. At leat in rats, eating a fatty meal for breakfast seemed to “switch on” the ability to metabolise fat later in the day.

Whatever the reason for it, rats eating the fatty breakfast were less at risk of metabolic syndrome and obesity.

More research is needed in humans but it seems to be another nail in the coffin of the view that weight is simply a matter of calories in vs calories out.
